This joint, and yes it really is a joint, is pretty funny. In the world of Panamanian meat houses and poultry-laden menus, Casa Vegetariana is an anomoly. It's got some sort of bizarre Asian theme to it, accented with little lanterns and fuzzy framed stitchwork. The only Asian vegetarian soul food place in town! The buffet area is where you order and each of the twenty some items in the buffet cost $.50. There is really quite an impressive variety and everything appears to be healthy and nutritious. A complete lunch, including a little plastic bottle of pineapple nectar, costs about $3. As an added bonus, you get miso-ish soup when you order anything over $2. The atmosphere is pretty sparse, but you just have to focus on the food. Maybe even try closing your eyes? For first timers, the buffet line can be intimidating. But don't be afraid to ask what something is. I found out a lot about myself doing this. There's another vegetarian restaurant nearby so if you don't like this one, head next door. Panama Asian vegetarian soul food. Booyah. More on Panama Restaurants |
