This place appears to be a bit ahead of its time and place. Situated on Bocas' lake-like waterside, Limongrass is a self-proclaimed “Asian Fusion” restaurant. Now whenever I read the word fusion, I read trendy chairs, muted techno music, and dishes that are more concerned in their appearance than their quality. Limongrass seems to have defied at least some of those concerns. It sits on the second floor of some sort of dive shop (automatically eliminating the overly-chic factor) and the furniture is very non-offensive to a poorly-groomed fellow like me. The restaurant offers an innovative creation in its “sushi sandwich”, for which I'll let its concept bewilder you. I went with the “Fish and Chips” which except for the few slices of ginger and chili, was about as far from Asia as, well, Panama. It was, however, a great little grilled snapper served with a heaping pile of fries and a little naked salad. The kids running the place seem to have things surprisingly under control and if the food wasn't so good, I'd write it off as a drinking hole. But no, this place definitely earns its culinary merit, and belongs along some of the top meals I have eaten in Panama.
