El Chitre is a local, hole in the wall, cheap eats sort of Fonda restaurant. It is just like any other Fonda in the sense that a lot of locals eat there and it is very cheap, but I have to say the food there was suprisingly good. I would definetly recommend the fish in some sort of red sauce. A huge cup full of rice with beans, meat in some sort of sauce, and either patacones or macaroni salad was $3. The workers aren't in the best of moods, but you can sit outside and people watch, so it all evens out.
