I am pretty good at making up jokes and most recently, Disneyland Panama been the subject of many of them. But the more I hear about the prospect of a Disneyland in Panama, the more feasible the idea becomes. If you're not in-the-know in Panama like I am—having just recently purchased a gold, and rather expensive membership to the "in-the-know club"—rumor has it, that a Disneyland is in the works near Santa Clara, a small beachy town about an hour and a half from the city.

I've heard the rumor from a lot of different people and I've also had the rumor dismissed by a lot of people. I've heard people who swear they know someone on the inside--some sort of Disneyland informant who in my mind, looks like a Hispanic Keebler gnome. This informant claims to have seen the papers being signed, in an indescript office somewhere—perhaps Disneyland headquarters in wonderland?

Just yesterday, I met a kid who said that he's excited because the potential project would sit right in his backyard. He told me that they're building a Sea World--and he seemed like he knew what he was talking about--had really nice Oakleys and a cool pen.

I've also heard from skeptics—people who dismiss the idea of Disneyland Central America for a variety of reasons—primarily, I believe, because they dislike grownup people in costumes—something I very much enjoy. Some of them say the idea would never work and others have said it's just a publicity stunt. I don't really know. But, I smirk at the idea of being able to go on that little children of the world ride where they're all singing--what's that called?

I'm thinking about doing an investigation. I'll need to buy some latex gloves and a good magnifying glass, but otherwise, it should be pretty easy. I'll probably start by asking a guy I know who used to dress up as Winnie the Pooh in Myrtle Beach. Then, perhaps my 4 year old cousin who is practically an executive at Disney, he's seen so many of their movies. I'm bound to come up with some hard facts—and hey, if I don't—I can just make them up. En serio, does anyone have any ideas about the authenticity of this rumor? Disneland and Sea World while traveling Panama?

Rick Shultz: Disneyland Central America
I think that, more than likely, the usual rumormills have come up with “Disneyland Panama” after Embassy Panama announced that they were going to spend 300 million dollars building a waterpark and oceanarium at Playa Corona, just up the road from Santa Clara.

nielsen: Ski resort in Boquete?
I just heard that Volcan Baru is being turnned into the next Aspen! They're clearing trees for the new ski runs as we speak and due to the fresh, rocky-mountain like climate, seasonal spectators are predicting at least 200 inches of fresh powder a year! We're currently selling yet to be built log cabins and A frames at the bottom
of the yet to be built high speed gondolas! Everyone at "amigos" bar is talking about it and many in manhattan and miami have already invested! DON'T TELL ANYBODY!

see ya on the slopes
