What a trip this place is. In both the fact that its grounds serve as a surrogate zoo for tons of crazy wildlife, and also in the fact that it takes a while to get there--literally a trip.

It sits about 25 miles from Pedasi in the Azuero Peninsula. The owner has converted, what used to be his family compound, into a bustling display of wildlife by caring for monkeys, birds, sloths, and other funny animals. Ostriches guard the front gate.

The resort only has 4 rooms, a number which is currently increasing with new construction on the beach. The beach is pretty nice and has a good view of an outlying cay/island area where snorkeling is supposed to be entertaining. They also have an on-premise restaurant which is over-priced.

The hotel will organize tours for their guests: fishing, surfing, snorkeling, diving. In all honesty though, a simple walk around the grounds is a tour in itself--revealing techno-colored scarlet macaws, titi and spider monkeys, and a variety of other animals you don't get to see everyday.

Rooms fill up fast so make your reservation way in advance. Otherwise, just stop by the joint for some ceviche on the beach. Daypasses for the beach run about $5 and you get use of all the hotel services.
