It is the closest nice beach to Panama City...and I can certainly do without that extra 25 minutes in the car to get to Playa Blanca... The people and the restaurants ( La Runina) and hotel ( Hotel Paradise) located there are REAL, GENUINE, FRIENDLY and safe. Try it yourself. Gorgona unfortunately still suffers from a bit of a "low class" reputation with the middle-class and upper-class Panamanianas (unless they are surfers !) because it is a lower income neighborhood around the beach and only recently have there been nice new houses and new luxury condo developements (such as Velero, Playa Serena and Malibu). In the next 5 years the image of Gorgona will have changed completely and it is going to be considered on the same scale as Coronado and Playa Blanca as a beach resort. - John Dennis Mon, 21 Jan 2008 19:41:43 +0100
