Blood on the Panama Streets - Everything that's wrong with Panama real estate agents and why I'm one of them. The following is a document written by my friend Kent Davis. Kent is a real estate consultant in Panama City and he wrote the words below as a response to his many clients who were interested in details about buying real estate in Panama. Kent is arguably the most reliable agent I know in Panama and although his work clearly conflicts with our interests here at The Panama Report, we thought it was important to post.

"So get this," Adam says while we were sitting at the Baltimore Aquarium waiting for the dolphin show to start. "A girl I used to date told me that when she was in kindergarten, some rich kid in her class had a birthday party at the national zoo. When the boy got up in front of his family and friends to take part in an honorary dolphin routine, the trainer accidentally hit the wrong button, releasing the gate to the polar bear tank. Then the polar bear swam up, swiped the kid off the stage, mauled him in the water, and ate him alive before everyone in the audience. Imagine that!"

Nowadays, everyone is pondering more or less the same question: should you invest your money (or in a lot of cases your time) in Panama? It's a topic of conversation you can overhear in the airport, at dinner tables, on the street and even in public bathroom stalls where I once heard a man raving about Trump while taking a dump.

Roughly ten years ago, an investor I know came to Panama and liked what he saw. He liked it so much that he purchased a piece of beachfront real estate in a little town called Gorgona for $25,000, roughly the size of a football field. He just recently sold the property to a hungry developer for just over $400,000.

I recently took a trip back to the United States, one night during which I found myself standing in the basement of my parents' house, staring at boxes and boxes of baseball cards I had collected throughout my youth. I had stacked the boxes in the corner of the closet back when I was in elementary school in hope that one day I might sell them for enough money to buy a house boat for me and my camel I would name Lumpy.

I understand the illusion of safety that airlines must instill in their customers. I really do. I'm willing to put up with taking off my shoes for x-rays, lineups which I can only assume were created exclusively for the purpose of giving terrorists time to reconsider their faith, and being shown how to put on a seat belt. What I don't understand, and don't appreciate, is why, in Row 10 of the Boeing 737 which was carrying me and my fellow passengers on the four and a half hour flight from Houston to Panama City, Continental Airlines decided that my chair should not recline.

We get a lot of questions everyday asking about Panama real estate. Which developers are trustworthy? Where is the next up-and-coming investment hotspot? How should you best invest your, say, $300,000? Because the Panama real estate market is so new, it can be extremely difficult, if not downright frustrating, to find good, reliable information. There exist a bunch of real estate information sites out there but the problem with them all, they're trying to sell you real estate at the same time. How can you trust someone like that to be honest?

I meandered down the aisle of a popular sporting good store in Panama City, eyeing the type of running shoes that would undoubtedly make me faster. I had heard, not long before from a friend, about a new pair which were supposedly designed by the same aerodynamics team that makes parts for NASA spaceships. I envisioned flying past fellow runners in what would look to them simply like a blur. After briefly trying the shoes on, I purchased them, and drove home with a warm feeling in my heart.

Although feeling my years as I rapidly approach my 32nd birthday, I by no means tout myself to be a seasoned real estate expert. However, I am a pretty observant chap who likes to read up on subjects and study trends from several angles. This is more than I think most folks do when jumping onto the investment bandwagon's flavor of the month.

The following is an article of ours on Panama Real Estate recently featured in Costa Rica's Tico Times: (PANAMA CITY, PANAMA) FOR YEARS NOW, Costa Rica has retained an exotic and unrivaled growth in Central America as the region's top eco-destination. Luxury rainforest resorts and stunning oceanfront real estate became something that characterized the nation and set it apart from its neighbors. Now though Panama, with its equally-impressive natural environment and groundbreaking real estate boom, is making for tough competition.
