One Liner:
Why not move to Panama

What first brought you to Panama and what were some of the deciding factors?:
I first came to Panama in 2002 for a study abroad program through Florida State University. I returned in 2006 for an internsip with the United Nations Development Programs in poverty and gender affairs. I have always enjoyed Panama and have not found a reason to leave.

How long have you been living in Panama and how long do you see yourself here in the future?:
I have been living in Panama for almost 2 years. I don't like to plan far in advance...time will tell.

What are the positive aspects of life in Panama?:
Relatively low cost of living, climate, people, culture, laid-back lifestyle and the currency is the dollar.

What are the negative aspects of life in Panama?:
Everything takes forever to get accomplished and driving can be tricky at times.

What one aspect of your life in Panama makes it all worthwhile?:
The best thing is being able to work with one of my best friends.

Was it difficult to become "legal" or achieve residency for you in Panama?:
Ask me again in a couple of months

Do you speak Spanish and do you think it's necessary in order to succeed in Panama?:
yes and yes

Favorite restaurant in Panama (include brief review por favor):
La Posta is my favorite restaurant. The atmosphere is lovely and the food is delectable.

Talk about where you live: location, type, neighbors, costs, amenities, conveniences?:
I live on Via Argentina in El Cangrejo. It is my favorite area in Panama City because the people are eccentric and everything is in walking distance.

How are you received by the locals in Panama?:
I believe that I am received very well.

Do you ever miss home and if so, how do you best cope with it?:
I do miss home at times; however, I have not lived this close to my family for the past 6 years. Due to the close proximity and direct flights to Miami, I am able to visit them more often than I am used to.

Do you have any tips for people thinking about moving to Panama?:
Buy everything here. Don't try to ship anything.
